December 2011

Dear Praying Friends,

Wow, where do we start? We are in the USA. If you have not been following the drama, we will have to catch you up on what is going on. November was a total whirlwind. We packed our bags and headed to Lima to have dental work done for Rachel. She has a real fear of dentist, and needed a lot of work done. We figured we would be in Lima about 5 days, ten days later we were driving back home. We got home on Thursday afternoon, and Friday morning I got a phone call asking if I was going to be there that night to kick off anniversary services 5 hours away! Continue reading December 2011

Dear Praying Friends,

Housing has been costly since moving to Cajamarca. The economy in Cajamarca is very strong, which makes housing costs high. As a result we started building our house over 2 years ago. We bought land, had plans drawn up with high hopes and anticipation. Two years later, the land is paid for, the house foundation has been laid, and the walls are up for the ground level, and we praise the Lord for what has been done. We hoped to be able to build the house with our savings, and by cutting our expenses. We moved into a smaller house, and have cut expenses on almost every corner we know to cut. We are now realizing that we are not able to do it on our own. It is hard to ask you to help, when we know you are already doing so much for us! However, we are in need of help. Our goal is to see the house roughed in by March of 2012. We have money set aside, and plan on starting up construction again. We don’t have enough to finish, and we are starting by faith. If you can help, or can take up a special love offering to help with this needed building fund, we would greatly appreciate it. Please keep this in your prayers as well, that God would supply what we need to be able to get this project done. I will have material costs in the next letter. Basically we are looking at something around $5,000. Please mark any extras for Rice Housing fund.

Dear Pastors & Praying Friends,

Greetings from the land of “eternal spring”. We enjoy year round moderate temperatures but along with spring we also get rain and lots of it. For the past month, it has rained every single day!!! The kids have loved it, there are huge puddles for them to splash in. We are looking forward to the end of rainy season though. As it can be restricting in the outdoor activities, and makes visiting difficult. Continue reading April 2011

Dear Praying Friends,

We are in the midst of rainy season here, and look forward to sunny days again as you look forward to spring. So much has happened this past month. We found out that Shane was sick with Typhoid in the end of December and beginning of January. Typhoid can be a very serious sickness and can wipe people out for a few months at a time. Praise the Lord that Shane had two out of three typhoid treatments while we were home on furlough this last time, and was partially immune to it. He had a light case and with medicine recovered very quickly. We praise the Lord for His watch care and protection. Continue reading February 2011
