Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,
What an exciting time we have had the past month. Things have been going well, for us. God has been faithful, and with the blessings many times come the trials of the adversary. Let us start with the positive things that have been going on.
Praise the Lord, Pastor Fredy and I had the opportunity to visit in the prison this past month. I have visited in the prisons in the USA, but never have I had the opportunity to visit them here in Peru. A young lady that has been visiting our church asked us to visit her uncle who had just gone to prison very recently. The first week we went he had been in just about a week, and was in observation. He was completely broken. Never have I seen a man so broken in all my life, I don’t doubt that he had considered suicide. He was searching, and God had brought us at the right moment. He was saved that same day we visited! Being somewhat skeptical, as I can be, I was concerned about the authenticity of his salvation, it was too easy. The following week we went back to follow up on him, and God erased all of my doubts as to his salvation. He had been reading and studying the Bible he had. I really believe God has something special for this man. He will undoubtedly be serving some time, and will have a tough road to hoe, however it was great to see his whole countenance changed, he indeed is a new creature in Christ. Please pray for him, his name is Fredy Chan. We will continue to visit and pray that God will even use this to give us a good in-road to start a prison ministry.
We have been somewhat discouraged at the lack of results of working with the deaf. We have visited, invited and it seems all has been in vain as we are unable to get deaf to show up on any sort of consistent rate. We are unable to locate deaf either, we know they are here, but they don’t seem to be too willing to share their directions with us, or don’t even know them. However, I have been teaching signs to a group of hearing people who are interested each Saturday and trusting God to supply the increase.
As we mentioned in our last newsletter, we have found a new building for our church and Lord willing we will be moving in this month. Please pray for our church as we make this change. We are planning a big push to invite new people and make the new location known. It is just a few blocks away from our current location so we are hoping everything will go smoothly!
Our family is doing well, we are planning a trip to Lima this month to finish the paperwork for our kids’ resident visas and we are looking forward to a McDonalds hamburger!! Pray for us as we make the more than 15 hour trip one way.
Thank you for your prayers and support! May the Lord bless each of you richly!!
