Romans 3:9-
Introduction
Outline for Chapter 3
- Paul’s Answers to Objections (3:1-8)
- Paul’s Assertion of sin (9-18)
- Paul’s Arguments of Justification by Faith (19-31)
Paul has been laying all the ground work for Salvation up to this point.
Before you start any project, there is a lot of preparation that needs
to be put into place. If you are going to plant a garden, you want to
chose the location (not a shaded location, not a soggy location), the
next step would be to break up the ground. In these few chapters, Paul
has been breaking up the ground. You cannot plant a garden, if one
already exists. Once again, Paul is writing both Jew and Gentile. Both
have existing religious backgrounds, and philosophies. Paul has to
completely cut down their ideas, and turn over the dirt where their
religious garden was growing before the Gospel seed can be planted. Paul
has spent 2 chapters showing how man, both Gentile and Jew are without
excuse before God! He was cutting down what already existed there. In
these next few verses, he is about to turn the ground over, so there is
fresh dirt, and the soil is prepared to receive the seed.

Authority
#
Mark 1:21-28
Introduction
In our passage, the word Authority appears twice, but the implication of
authority is in every part of the passage we will look at.
authority - legal or rightful power; a right to command or to act; power
exercised buy a person in virtue of his office or trust; dominion,
jurisdiction;
In the gospel of Mark, Jesus is presented as a servant. However, it is
very clear in the beginning of the gospel, that he is not a weak
servant, but a very powerful, strong servant. While Jesus came to serve,
and be a servant, by no means does that make him weak, or lessen his
authority.

Romans 5:6-11
Introduction
As we continue to look at Romans, I would like us to fully understand
the great salvation we have. It is not necessary to understand all of
this in order to be saved, but after we are saved, it is great to look
at it all, and understand better the GREAT Salvation we received!
When you bought your first car, you certainly didn't understand what
you were getting! You probably didn't understand how a pump turns on,
and moves the gasoline from your tank to your motor. You probably
didn't understand that a battery & starter cranks that motor over. You
probably didn't understand the proper ratio of gas and air mixture to
get that explosion to take place inside of that engine block as the
piston compressed that mixture. You probably didn't understand the gear
ratio in the transmission that causes a motor that is constantly in
motion to put the wheels in motion. All you knew was, how much does it
cost? Does it work? do I like the color, and does the radio work?

Romans 5:12-17
Introduction
An Old Time preacher, Harry Ironside wrote this:
The moment a man is justified by faith he is also born of God. His
justification is, as we have seen, his official clearance before the
throne of God. His regeneration involves his introduction into a new
family. He becomes a part of the New Creation of which the risen
Christ is the Head. Adam the first was federal head of the old race.
Christ Risen, the Second Man and the Last Adam, is Head of the new
race. The old creation fell in Adam, and all his descendants were
involved in his ruin. The new creation stands eternally secure in
Christ, and all who have received life from Him are sharers in the
blessings procured by His cross and secured by His life at God's
right hand.

Mark 2:1-12
Introduction
This morning I would direct our attention to the people in
this passage. Jesus always interacted with people.
We relate with some people, and often we see ourself in other people?

Mark 2:27-3:6
Introduction
Mark 2:27-28 feed into this passage so well:
Mark 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not
man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the
sabbath.
This is a major power play move by Jesus, demonstrating this truth, and
his authority to the Pharisees. While there is an overtone that is
certainly prominent, lets not forget the circumstances, and people that
are involved! This is an incredible miracle, done specifically on the
sabbath, in front of the Pharisees, and in all of that, a man is healed,
his life is changed!

Romans 15:8-13
Introduction
Paul has been advocating how God desires to save BOTH Jew and Gentile
throughout his entire letter to the Romans. There appears to have been a
great battle for the Gentiles to adhere to the OT religious laws and
completely change their way of life. Jesus should and does change your
life.
2 Cor 5:17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Mark 5:1-7, 1-20
Introduction
We have an extreme and vividly detailed account of a man living in the
Gadarenes. As we see in this account, understand this man didn’t grow up
in these conditions. You have to imagine he was someones baby. We have
no real evidence, nothing to tell us about his past, so we are
speculating.
I call this extreme, because really this is a clear picture of the
extreme way sin can destroy a life completely. This man didn’t desire to
end up in this situation. Most people don’t desire to be addicted to
drugs, end up as alcoholics, or end up in prison. It is the extreme
detrimental effects of sin. It is like a snowball that starts small, and
collects as it rolls down a hill, it gets bigger, and at some point it
is out of control, and there is no humanly way of stopping it!

Mark 5:22-24, 35-43
Introduction
Last week, we saw the woman that was cured of her issue of blood.
However, the story of Jairus is interrupted midway through that account.
Jesus had cast the demons out of the man in Gadarenes, they asked him to
leave. He get’s back in the boat, and crosses the sea, to be confronted
by Jairus.
Today, we consider an amazing miracle of a girl raised to life. It is
the first account of a person being raised from the dead in the Gospel
of Mark, that doesn’t mean it was the first person Jesus raised from the
dead.

Mark 6:54-56
Introduction
The Gospel of Mark is action packed. We go from one episode, straight
into another. There is a such an amazing portrait of the Saviour written
by Mark. Jesus is portrayed as the great servant, going from one place
to another in full ministry mode.
As a waitress would go from table to table, and serve people, Jesus
travels from town to town serving people everywhere he goes. Serving
complete strangers, family, the disciples, everyone he meets, he desires
to serve them. It is quite amazing to see Jesus in that light, also
knowing and realizing He is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords…
Jesus, in great humility serves!
