Victory Celebration #
Revelation 19
Introduction
There are three things that are clearly noted in this chapter. Clearly, we can see the Worship, the Wedding, and the War. All three of these things are positive things. Considering the fall of Babylon, and the wickedness that is described in those two chapters, this chapter is a breath of fresh air.
I. The Worship of the Lord (1-6) #
A. The chorus (1, 3, 4, 6) #
-
Only used in the book of Revelation.
- It means to praise God, and originally comes from a Hebrew word.
1. They Praise him for Deliverance - Salvation (1) #
Psa. 135:3 Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.
- That is what we do when we open the song book!
2. They are Praising God for Discernment -judgement (2-3a) #
3. They Praise Him for His Divinity - throne (4) #
4. They Praise Him for His Dominion – Omni. (6) #
B. The Congregation (1, 4, 6) #
1. Place (1) “in heaven” #
2. People (1) “much people” 4 “four and twenty elders” 6 – “voice of a great multitude” #
- It is not possible to calculate the amount of people who have been saved over the past 200 years in or as a result of our country. Much less over the last 2000 years! + OT Saints!
C. The Command (5) #
-
You should get used to praising God, because we are going to Praise HIM in Heaven!
-
“servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great” (5)
-
I’m glad, God has ‘small + great’ people in heaven!
- It is not for the “self righteous” or those who think themselves big.
Psa. 115:13 He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
II. The Wedding of the Lamb (7-9) #
A. Commencement (7) #
1. Rejoicing! #
-
Weddings are joyful occasions.
- Weddings have Bible significance… perhaps that is why so many people have quit getting married, and just started shacking-up together.
2. Respect – “give honor” #
3. Ready – “wife hath made herself ready” #
- Ephesians 5:25-27, 31*
- The spots and wrinkles will be ironed out in the rapture! When this corruptible must put on incorruption!
B. Clothing (8) #
- Again, there is a reason that Brides wear white dresses, it is symbolic of righteousness, purity!
- We are not dressed in our own righteousness, but rather that which was given us by God through Jesus Christ!
Is. 61:10 ¶ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
C. Call (9) #
- Who is called? - OT Saints, Tribulation Saints?
John 3:29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
III. The War in the Land (11-20) #
A. The Capitan (11-13, 15-16) #
- A great deal of verses are given to describe the Capitan of the army!
1. Heaven – Coming (11) – He is coming from Heaven – clearly this is Jesus, and his “second coming” that is referred to in Scripture. #
- We sometimes errantly refer to the rapture of Jesus, as his coming, but He doesn’t touch earth in that time. He is only described as being in the clouds, and will receive us up to himself!
- The Bible attributes two comings to Christ, the first, which has been fulfilled, and the Second, which is this one, he will come to earth!
2. Horse (11)– white, the first white horse, Rev 6:1, was a counterfeit! #
3. Honor (11) – “Faithful and true, and in righteousness” #
- This is not an angel, but Jesus Christ Himself.
4. Word of God (13) #
5. Sharp sword of judgement (15) – victory! #
B. The Company (14) – #
1. Clothes(14) - Strange dress for an army, white! - This is a heavenly army! #
2. Birds (17-18) #
C. The Competition (19) #
1. The beast, kings of the earth, armies #
D. The Consequences (20-21) #
1. Beast & false prophet, cast alive – lake of fire (20) #
The rest swiftly destroyed (21) birds fed.
