Be of Good Courage!
#
Psalm 31:1-5
Introduction
The title of the message for tonight is taken right from the last verse
of the Psalm, Be of Good Courage. It is easy to be discouraged. With the
day and age we live in, we can certainly be discouraged. With the
circumstances of life at times, we can be discouraged. That is why the
Psalms are suck a blessing to us! David too suffered from
discouragement. He certainly had bad days, and days in which he was
literally attacked, betrayed, slandered, and run out of his own kingdom
(before he was king and even after he was king!

Dealing with the Ugly Monster of Sin
#
Psalm 32:1-11
Introduction
This Psalm opens up with a bold statement that we will consider and look
at more at the end of the chapter than we will at the beginning. There
are some great statements in the opening that should be considered.
This Psalm primarily deals with sin. This is something that EVERY
believer can associate with, because as saved believers, we should NOT
enjoy sin, and yet we are not, and will not be sinless until we get to
heaven! So it is a topic we are all familiar with!

Psalms 33
Introduction
Psalm 33 doesn’t have a title, Hebrew tradition holds that it is a
continuation of the previous Psalm. It is worth noting that Psalm 32
ends on the righteous rejoicing, and Psalm 33 picks up on that very same
idea. Whether it was intentionally written that way, or the way it was
assembled, one thing is for sure, the Lord orchestrated His Word, and He
makes NO MISTAKES!

Psalm 34:1-3
Introduction
This Psalm was written when David had been driven out of the country. He
was forced to the land of the Philistines. Obviously, he was not welcome
there, as he had killed their giant, and their hero. To help us get full
context of this Psalm, let’s read the account.
1 Samuel 21:10-15
Notice in verse 10, David was fearful. It is a fearful thing to be on the
top 10 wanted list of the king… and I’m pretty sure that David was
number 1 on that list.

The Three Fold Prayer
#
Psalm 35:1-10
Introduction
A three fold prayer, is not uncommon in Scripture. After all, didn’t
Jesus pray in the garden three times? It was Paul who prayed to be
delivered of his thorn in the flesh three times. We read in 2
Corinthians 12:7-9
2Cor. 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the
abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the
flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted
above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it
might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for
thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore
will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me.

Psalm 36:1-12
Introduction
This is a great Psalm. Many of the Psalms, exalt God. They are great to
look at, and reflect on God’s goodness to us! Truly, it is worth while
to do so! Before he gets tot he goodness of God, he contemplates the
path of the wicked in verses 1-4. He then

Anxiety Relief
#
Psalm 37:1-8
Introduction
When you get heartburn, you often reach for Tums, or Rolaids, something
for relief. When you get a headache, or have pain, you reach for pain
relief (Aspirin, Tylenol, Ibuprofen).
Psalm 37, could be labeled, Anxiety Relief! For the Christian, it should
relieve the anxiety in your life. Some pain relief medicines, you can
take every 4 hours to help relieve the pain... you can read Psalm 37 as
often as you need, you cannot overdose on this chapter! All of the side
effects are 100% positive, with ZERO bad side effects!

Pity Party Psalm
#
Psalm 38:21-22
Introduction
Last week, we looked at a Psalm to help with Anxiety, this week, we are
looking at a Psalm, that will help with the feeling of loneliness,
neglect, or perhaps feeling forgotten. No doubt, we all have times when
we feel neglected, or forgotten about. We wonder if anyone remembers us.
God ultimately designed people for companionship… that is why God
said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an
help meet for him.” (Gen 2:18).

Dealing with Discouragement
#
Psalm 39:1-2
Introduction
When it rains, it pours is the old saying. Last week, we noticed the
Psalmist having a Pity party, lamenting his personal problems. This
Psalm Deals with Discouragement. Everyone faces discouragement in their
life. It is not something uncommon, and some deal with discouragement
more than others.
Discouragement is often the results of unfulfilled expectations. You are
expecting something to happen, and when it does not happen, you become
sad, sullen, and often discouraged from the results that were not as you
expected.

Psalm 40:1-5
Introduction
We can view most Psalms from the eyes or perspective of the writer.
Looking at it from the time of the writing. They can be viewed
prophetically, looking forward to what they would represent. Remember,
when they were written, Jesus Christ had not yet been brought into the
world as the Supreme Sacrifice. The Holy Spirit had not yet come to be
the Comforter. And much of the Bible had yet to be completely written.
However, it is Scripture, therefore it was given by God, who is NOT
bound by these limitations! What an incredible book we have, hold, and
adhere to!
